As a contract research laboratory Normec OWS is the global market leader in biodegradability and compostability testing of different types of items, ranging from base materials such as plastic and paper, over additives to final packaging products and food service items. We have hundreds of customers all over the world amongst whom several major brand owners and large chemical concerns. We also offer a wide range of additional services such as auditing, controlling & sorting of waste, life cycle assessments and other sustainability studies. We work according to high quality standards, based on ISO 17025. Over the past 30+ years, we have built up a lot of expertise, having tested thousands of samples, and are recognized by all certification bureaus worldwide in the field of biodegradable or compostable materials. We actively participate in many certification and standardization committees, as well as European research projects and international conferences. The main office and laboratories are located in Gent, Belgium while a subsidiary laboratory is located in USA (Ohio).
